Behind the Mural

Working with Rob Gibbs during my SSP gave me a new understanding of graffiti and mural art beyond just painting on a wall. I learned different techniques, how to plan and lay out a mural from start to finish, and how much preparation goes into making public artwork actually come together. I also got hands-on experience with the larger process, including using a crane and seeing how much teamwork and patience it takes to complete something on that scale. Overall, it made me realize that murals are intentional pieces of art that reflect culture, tell stories, and impact the community in a way I didn’t fully understand before.
