It also changed the way I looked at psychology during SSP. When we watched and analyzed movies, I started thinking less about just what characters were doing and more about why they were acting that way. The book pushed me to think deeper about emotions, communication, and how people’s experiences shape their behavior. Instead of judging things on the surface, I started looking at what might be happening underneath and how much someone’s environment can affect them.
Reading All About Love made me think more deeply about what real connection actually means. One idea that stuck with me is that love is not just a feeling, it is something shown through consistency, honesty, and effort. That connected a lot to my SSP experiences because everything I did involved some form of community or teamwork, whether it was sports, volunteering at The BASE, or working with others. It made me realize that strong environments do not just happen, they are built by people who actually show up for each other in real ways.
It even connected to photography and soccer in a more personal way. In photography, I realized the best photos are not just technical, they capture emotion and perspective. In soccer, especially being in my last year of club, it made me reflect on how important trust, communication, and relationships are within a team. Overall, the book helped me understand my SSP experiences in a more meaningful way and made me appreciate the people and environments that have shaped me throughout high school.
